Photograph: PAUL MENSCH A man and his Mini War of words A WAR of words has erupted between Mil- dura Rural City Council and Federal Mem- ber for Mallee Andrew Broad following a Federal Government decision not to fund a Mildura Airport runway upgrade in this week’s Budget. Council was seeking $10million through the Gov- ernment’s National Stronger Regions Fund to help fund the revamp, estimated to cost $25million. Mildura Mayor Glenn Milne is disappointed Mil- dura has missed out on the funding, saying that nei- ther Council, nor the Mildura Airport Corporation, had been alerted to the failure of their funding appli- cation. • More Page 3.
