Appointment is for a term of three years. A formally appointed Committee of Council, the Audit Committee reports to Council and provides appropriate advice and recommendations on matters relevant to its Charter, in order to facilitate decision making by Council in relation to the discharge of its responsibilities. The Committee pursues Best Practice Guidelines for Audit Committees and Internal Audit. Council is committed to establishing and supporting the primary objectives of the Committee, which are to assist Council in the effective conduct of its responsibilities for financial reporting, management of risk, internal controls and ethical development. An appropriate remuneration, set by Council, is to be paid to each member of the Committee, reflecting the importance Council places in establishing an effective Audit Committee. The Committee meets bi-monthly. Due to the confidential nature of some issues dealt with by the Audit Committee, the successful member will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
