16 NEWS MILDURA WEEKLY FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2015 MOTHER Nature proved kind for visitors and stallholders alike during last week’s annual Mildu- ra Field Days, with the two-day event – held under bright and sunny skies – labelled a success by organisers. Large crowds flocked to the annual Field Days, with more than 140 exhibitors display- ing products and services at the event. The entertainment area also proved popular with crowds, with many visitors enjoying a meal and music. Black Snake Productions were kept busy entertaining the young – and young at heart – with live snake and crocodile exhibitions, while the SciWorld exhibit enthralled crowds with demonstrations and hands-on activities. In addition to the many sights and sounds on offer, a number of businesses were re- warded as part of the annual Mil- dura Field Day Site Awards. They were: • Best Large Site – Leda Ag. • Best New Site – Cosmic Packaging. • Best Returning Site – Trigg Industries. • Best Medium Site – Stihl. • Best Small Site – Collie and Tierney. • Best Gadget Award – John Hunt. Gate prize A major gate prize was also drawn, with Stuart Baker tak- ing home a John Deere ride-on mower. Second prize – a John Deere push mower – was won by Terry Wise, while the children’s prize – a John Deere toy pack – went to Troy Harris. The Annual Dried Fruits Awards for the best quality fruit for the season were also an- nounced. Winners were: • BestSultanas–GGandJF Wall of Vinifera. • Best Sunmuscats – Ivan (BELOW) and Judy Shaw of Mer- bein South. •BestRaisins–FandLPa- netta of Mildura. • Best Currants – Peter Jenner of Merbein. • Best Fruit Overall for the Season Award – Ivan and Judy Shaw.
