The Red Rooster name is synonymous with a tasty roasted chook, and many other delicious chicken meal and snack ideas. Mildura’s Red Rooster store is family-owned and opened in 2010. Known for its customer service — it won the chain’s ‘Best Customer Service’ Award last year — it is open 10am to 10pm seven days a week. Customers can choose to dine in, or takeaway, and experience owner Steve Southgate and his team’s determination to “continue to deliver awesome service and a great product.” Red Rooster in Mildura employs 25 people and the business continues to grow. You’ll find Red Rooster at 237 Deakin Avenue, MIldura, telephone (03) 5021 0251. Fitness and Fun for Everyone the Lifestyle Plus motto Lifestyle Plus owners Andrew and Angela Farlie believe it’s been their ‘fitness and fun for everyone’ approach that has helped make the business so successful in recent times. Angela said Lifestyle Plus’s uniqueness was based around the fact that it’s the region’s biggest indoor playground, while also offering sporting activities for any age. “Our sports cater for everyone, including novices through to the more experienced sportsperson,” she said. “It’s fitness and fun for everyone!” Lifestyle Plus Mildura has been a mainstay in the region since 1985, with Andrew and Angela first taking over the business four years ago. Located at 3 King Avenue, Lifestyle Plus offers senior and junior sporting activities, KidZone and Inflatable World, with all types of sports offered at the venue – namely indoor netball (ladies and mixed), beach volleyball, soccer and cricket. Andrew believes that the introduction of Inflatable World has proved a major success for Lifestyle Plus, helping to increase party numbers and special functions at the venue over the past 12 months. The organisation currently employs 30 staff, is open seven days a week, and prides itself on offering a safe and fun environment for the whole family. “We also have plans to redevelop our courts and offer an even wider range of sports and activities in 2016,” Andrew said. Lifestyle Plus is set to introduce a new junior netball competition for primary schools later this year, with both Angela and Andrew anticipating that ‘Fast 5s’ will take the region by storm! There are some people that say if you can’t find a beer or cider you like on tap at The Cider Tree you’re not trying hard enough. And, with 18 beers and ciders on tap, and more than 80 assorted bottled beverages on hand, the choice is very wide to say the least. You might have to try a few to find your favourite, but that’s part of the fun. The same could be said for The Cider Tree’s food, with the busy kitchen turning out plenty of variety for lunch or dinner. Located in Mildura’s historic former post office building on the corner of Eighth Street and Deakin Avenue, The Cider Tree Ale House and Kitchen to give the business its full name, is open from noon on Tuesdays through to Saturdays, with meals served between noon and 2pm for lunch, and from 6pm to 9pm for dinner. Specials include $8 fish and chips for lunch Tuesday to Thursday, $19 steaks for dinner on Wednesdays, and $19.50 ‘Parmy and Pot’ night on Thursdays. These specials are complemented by an array of other, one-off weekly specials and promotions that have become a feature of life at The Cider Tree. Established just last year, The Cider Tree has quickly cemented its place on Mildura’s social calendar. It is the perfect place, for example, host Malcolm Kalms says to meet friends for a pre-dinner drink, to have dinner and then stay on for the entertainment. “It truly is a one-stop shop,” Malcolm says proudly.
