Mildura Weekly : Friday August 5 Vol 10 No 39
Feature 19 FRIDAY, AUGUST 5, 2016 MILDURAWEEKLY.COM.AU your guide to health, fitness, nutrition, beauty & life advice with Alexandra Treloar Eat an earlier and lighter dinner. We need the least amount of food at night time because sleep is when we use the least amount of energy. The food that is not used for normal body processes is left to be digested and is eventually stored, which is a lot of activity for a body that should be resting. Create a sleep sanctuary Your sleeping environment also plays a vital role in the quality of your sleep. Black out. Make your bedroom as dark as possible. The smallest light can keep the brain alert. Hang heavy curtains or a blind that will stop any light from getting in. Keep the lighting in your room dim and warm coloured. Bedrooms are for sleep. Don’t work, fight or make decisions in your bedroom. Keep the energy of your space peaceful, quiet and sacred. Smell and sound can make a difference. Burn some essential oils like lavender or incense like clary sage and put on some mozart. Create an experience that will help you feel instantly relaxed. The environment that you sleep in can have a great effect on the quality of your sleep so take some time to make it comfortable. METHOD 1. Combine everything except the coconut oil into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. 2. Let the mixture bubble gently for about five minutes. 3. After about five minutes of cooling, strain the mixture through a very fine strainer, stir in coconut oil.
