www.milduraweekly.com.au 20 Mildura Weekly – 25/04/14 IN THE RIVERLAND THIS WEEK ANGOVE Family Winemak- ers will host its third annual market day on Sunday. The Riverland’s first win- ery hosted the event for the first time two years ago, when it had a few pieces of “bric and brac” to sell off, accord- ing to Angove Family Wine- makers cellar door retail sales manager, Loraine Eastwood. “The first year was quite small – we only had about 20 stalls,” she said. That jumped dramatically in 2013, with local producers keen to take the opportunity to show off their wares to the 2000 people attending. “This is our third year – and it is another opportunity to have a family day at the winery so that people can show off produce and local arts and crafts,” Loraine said. “We have about 45 differ- ent stalls across a variety of areas, and made it into a real family market day.” For example, Loxton Karts are going to be there to show off their karts to the children. “Destiny Farm is going to bring their animals and the Riverland Woodworkers are going to do some wood turn- ing displays – they have got some amazing things.” There will also be a vari- ety of arts and crafts – includ- ing local jewellery. Local fruit and vegetable producers will include a per- simmon grower, dried fruits and other fresh fruit and veg- etables. There will be several lo- cal fudge and chocolate mak- ers, as well as the local Girl Guides’ stall and the Barmera Lions with their delicious do- nuts. Children can also “have a go” at laser skirmish, or choose to have their faces painted. Magician James Young, PICTURED, will return this year to provide some extra entertainment. The market day runs from 10am to 2pm however, the Angove Family Winemakers’ cellar door will remain open until 3pm for those that are keen to do some wine tasting. “We will have some spe- cials just for market day as well,” Loraine promised. Angove was founded in 1886, and people can find out about its rich his- tory when they visit the cellar door on Bookmark Avenue, Renmark.
